Thanks Sharon, I understand what you mean! Be assured that Bomani is trained to become as difficult a target as possible. I try to avoid a standard reaction to a standard training situation so Bomani is put in a wide variety of sitiuations, far more than the in my country common training practises for Police dog. Also until now I have been one of the few in my country to have bought tailor made body armor for the dog that is used. I don't want to show off the dog's muscles as the Dutch Police likes to do as a veiled threat but I want my friend's body to be at least as good protected as myself. Besides I know the sight of an armoured Amstaff usually will change the mental attitude of the opposing force, at least in my country. To many people an Amstaff is exactly the same as a Pitbull and many people think they are mindless killers. I imagine a Boerboel might have similar persuasive power. I don't know if I will have body armour made for Bomani as I am not in the business that I might need the help of a dog to "solve a problem" somewhere anymore. I also am one the few in my country that trains a guard dog to stand not very close to a fence. Bomani's function will just be to protect my wife while I am absent in a very low risk situation. So selecting a Boerboel is already something of an overkill in this situation. But I expect my country to become as criminal-infested as some other countries so any advice from you (or anyone else) in training Bomani is very welcome. Please bear in mind that firearms are relatively rare in my country so training opportunities are rare as well.
