Congratulations--how exciting!! I had a feeling you were getting one of the Mouseketeers! When is he/she going to arrive? Are they 6 weeks now?

I guess a lot of international flights land in Newark. He could've flown to our airport in Hartford, CT but would have had an overnight stay in a kennel. That was out of the question. Maybe you could get a flight into Newark? Newark seems to be a major international cargo destination.

He came on Continental airlines, but dogs are flown with cargo so you will have to go with to the airline's cargo area. Continental Cargo was tricky to find at Newark and we would have been in trouble if we didn't have the GPS. Before they let you take the pup, you have to go over to customs with the pup's paperwork that comes with them and get them approved. Lucky for us the customs building was right next to Continental.

Just keep in mind you may have to lay down the law with these people. When I spoke to Continental pet services on the phone prior to his arrival, they told me to get there 30 min before the plane lands because the animals are the first off the plane. When we got to the cargo area they told us it would be a 2-4 hour wait because of processing paperwork and various other excuses. The flight was to land in 15 minutes. I told them it was not exceptable and that we would be back in 1 hour for the pup and he better be ready. I told them he had been in the air for 9 hours and any paperwork is attached to his airline crate, so they better stop giving me the run around. I guess I had to deal with them the Jersey way. We came back in 45 minutes and he was ready. Come to find out, when I spoke to Sandra, she told me she had also called them with a few choice words! Don't let them give you any run around, insist that the puppy must be brought to you in a reasonable amount of time.

When you find out what airline it is and flight number you can call to find out where you will have to go. I think Sandra scanned and emailed me the airline bill, because I think I remember having that info when we went to the airport. Bear's flight was around 9 hours.

Good luck with the airport nonsense!
