Thanks for everyone's quick response. I am very familiar with the Vari-Crate as they are sold in pet shops here. I know they are approved for flights. They are very nice. It sounds as though I will be able to get the shipping crate on the floor in my van is there is a lot of room in there when I take the middle seats out.

Kimberly, yes it is for me. I had never thought of picking a puppy up from Newark. I am actually very familiar with Newark since I used to work up there and flew into Newark often. Right now my plan is to pick the pup up at Dulles in DC. When you picked Bear up, did you know which gate to go to? Or did they instruct you in advance to go to a separate area? I am sure we will work this out with the shipping company. Do you remember how long Bear's flight was?

Yes, I'm getting one of the Mouseketeers! Woo Hoo!
