Or maybe they had the complete understanding (being that they were there) and what you believe now is incorrect, and Gilgamesh is right.

Considering that, the similarities

Hmm. Alright, I guess by that criteria every movie that follows a boy gets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back formula supports the validity of ONE TRUE BE ALL END ALL movie among that genre.

The reality is, someone came up with that formula, and a bunch of movies have been based on it since. Gilgamesh is closer to the progenitor of who made the formula for the Bible type stories, and I don't know why the Bible should hold true as the definitive original source of such a formula. I can, however, see where it ripped the formula off and did it's own thing with it, just like in Hollywood today.

The Christian God is intimately linked with a flood, and some people believe he is bound to what is logically possible. (i.e. bound by nature)

If by that you mean people worship God and Jesus, then I suppose you are right. Of course, the guts have been replaced several times over, and that's what I'm talking about as speaking in generalities in this particular instance would lead us to conclude things like Islam somehow being a stronger religion because it's basically the same since it began.
