Actually, I am not a volunteer nor a paid staff member. I am a former Miss who wishes I lived close enough to volunteer for these wonderful people. Get out there and volunteer or talk to the board face to face rather on a message board about your concerns. -- Sad to see this hostility, 22:14:37 05/25/11 Wed Former.. you need a wake-up call. The MDSO has chased away so many wonderful volunteers and they need to update their overall approach. Too old school and unnaproachable -- sad but my opinion, 09:07:06 05/26/11 Thu I've seen volunteers come go. Some, not all but some, volunteered for the wrong reasons. If you volunteer expecting something out of it, you will always be disappointed in the end and walk away with a bad feeling about the situation. Volunteering is giving of yourself with absolutely no expectations of anything in return. A lot of people miss that. It is a thankless job. It truly is. And i wouldn't say they are "old school".
