The dance routines were so complicated the girls couldn't do them. The microphones didn't work, the music stopped in the middle of routines and agreed, it was not well done. I respectfully disagree. The audience should know about their platforms. The fishbowl questions weren't equally as challenging. Some questions were more thoughtful than others. What would you bring on a deserted island is not a thoughtful question. The questions should have been looked over to be fair. At least one of the nights should have platform questions onstage. The questions are made to catch the girls off guard. I do however agree we needed to know them better and their platforms. It was way to fluffy. But the girls selected the questions randomly out of the fish bowl. The Sunday questions should have been platform related, after all we are a scholarship program and it is suppose to be a celebration of the 4 S's. The dance rountines were much too difficult for the at large contestants. They had no idea what to expect and this was not a welcoming way into this program. last year that was not the case at all..but this year, yes every girl had a local title. It can be a win /win. It may cost to compete but it helps fund the program...there is prize/scholarship dollars and assistance and networking. This year, it seemed to be the way to go. I commend every girl up there this weekend. They all managed to hold themselves together quite well despite the stage, being yelled at by the production team and tecnichal issues (which could happen at any show). when there is a sister teen title, there is time effort energy and money involved. Many directors are at a max helping the Miss program so it is hard to expect them to host a teen when they may not have the time or energy. It is a fact that every single girl in the top ten was a teen titleholder. And all teens who won awards with the exception of two had titles also. I think it would be relatively easy to host a teen program in the morning and a Miss in the night. One hall Merrimack did it. All I can say is it is easy to sit back and critique the show - not knowing the budget, equipment or time that they had to work with. I for one appreciate the time and effort this new production team put in, and loved the show and all the girls. It is an advantage for the girls to have a director, however not all directors want to have a teen. This is not the Miss program, remember it is a learning/training ground for the Miss program - I would bet many of the at-large girls come back with a title next year. Bravo to the people who put the show on this past weekend but next time the dances need to be simplified and a dress code should be enforced for singers. Its honestly a shame to see so many people disappointed in all of the hard work that was put into the weekend. The girls all did their best, and from what most could tell had a blast. So, just remember this is a teen pageant. If parents and elders get worked up about small details the kids will too. Agreed. I don't get why the criticism has been taken so strongly, from what I see, just pointing out some basic issues, isnt that what this forum is for? no one has been rude on here. I think sometimes people cannot take constructive criticism. I do agree about one thing, teens do learn from adults. in alot of aspects. Also they should not be expected to react in ways that the Miss contestants wouldnt be expected to, because honestly if some of the issues with the teen happened in the Miss. Oh boy!
