FYI, some pageants don't donate their earnings to specific organizations, so for those competing in that type of pageant, they are competing for the 'title' and the opportunity to use that title to promote their specific platform. Subject: I was just looking online to see if there was a pageant that was 'Outdoor' related, and found that there are a number of States that have Little, Miss and Mrs Outdoor pageants and their winners promote their prospective States Outdoors for the year. Much like the MPQ, Maine Blueberry and Strawberry Queen as well as the Maine Sea Goddess. The pageants are usually held during an Outdoors Sportsman Show. What do you all think of this?

Subject: International Homecoming Festival Pageants

It offers girls the opportunity to compete in a fun and exciting atmosphere, gaining the experience that helps one build self-confidence. This is a fundraiser for the International Homecoming Festival. Queens will reign over the week-long festivities and take part in the Grand Parade, as well as take part in numerous community service projects throughout the year. This prestigious pageant was originally directed by the award-winning dance instructor Barbara Lara whose list of former students include Miss Maine America Arikka Knights and Miss Maine USA Ashley Marble. Miss Maine Day in September has an entry fee of $150, winner does not go to a national. Talent is part of the judging. Miss Maine High School in August also costs $150, no talent, winner moves on the the Miss High School America Pageant. Time to sign up for Miss Maine High School and Miss Maine Collegiate Pageants to be held on August 6 in Saco, Maine 7 pm.
The Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant will be held on the same day at 2 pm.
The pageant system is for ages 2-30. Website is www.missmainepageant.com
Applications are now available and high school and college contestants get a free opening number designer dress if you sign up by June 15.

Subject: Just found out the Miss Maine USA 2012 fee is going up tp $895. If this is true i find it very sad. Mackenzie this is Maine, its hard enough to find sponsors and you bumping up the fee doesnt help.

Hey it's a business. Mackenzie has to do what she has to do. LOTS of overhead in running a professional looking show. If girls want to compete badly enough, they will find a way to raise the money. My God, they've got until Novemeber at this point! Plenty of time! Getting info from this board isn't the way to go. Google the Mrs Maine America pageant and then send a message to the current queen...ask her what her experience was like. And Heidi, Mrs Maine US can be found on facebook and she is really good at getting back to you. She was an atlarge queen so she didn't compete at the State level since there wasn't a pageant last year, but she can give you her ideas on US and the current Maine US director. No there isn't a 2012 pageant scheduled. A new director would be needed. I would contact the national Mrs. International office and speak to that group.
