Hi, just wanted to say I love your ideas about Peter Pan being totally androgynous, both in looks and attitude, and I had a crush on the character when I was only about 8 !!
Of course, I only had the Disney image of him and coloured-pencil drawings in a story book which I had, but I was in love with him!! I would kiss his picture all the time!!!
Then when I was 12, I saw a female actress on stage in panto as Peter Pan - and yes, I loved him just the same!!! ;)

Not to be picky or anything, but I'd like to point out a wee spelling error on your main page. Just above your link to Dorothy's site, you've got the word "fiancé" in reference to your FW.

While the word is correct in the context that it's being used, the spelling is not... not to worry though... your error is common amongst people who don't speak/write French... heck, I know I've made the same error countless times when I was in French class in high school.

"Fiancé," as you've spelled it is the masculine form of the word and is how Dorothy should refer to you on her page, and since Dorothy is clearly a female, there should be an extra "e" at the end, giving "fiancée" as your references to her.

Anyway, just wanted to point that small technicality out (not that most people reading it would know the difference anyway). Keep up the good work and I hope you and D have a happy and prosperous life together!

I think it is wonderful that you feel so close to your inner child and congratulate your ability to feel so comfortable in your own skin, not every boy would feel happy wearing tights! As a huge fan of the J. M. Barrie's original Pan (I gave my partner a silver thimble and have a tattoo of an acorn, Peter's return kiss to Wendy) I feel that there are a few facts I could just highlight in defence of the many directors who have had a female lead. Please remember that Peter made his big debut on a stage in London. Wikipedia gives the following reason for the male character being played by a female:

"Traditionally the character has been played on stage by an adult woman (a decision driven primarily by the difficulty of casting actors even younger than the one playing Peter for the other children)"

Thus, the reason for a female to be cast in the role was for logistical matters. The play is now usually performed in the UK as a pantomime, a form of entertainment shown at Christmas. In the majority of pantos it is traditional for the 'principle boy'(in this case Peter Pan) to be played by a female. This is then offset by the 'dame' character, an old woman played by a man in drag. Thus this is actually NOT a comment about sexuality and/or gender roles, but a traditional construct from Peter's country. The dame is often played by a well respected actor. Ian Mckellen, for example (of Lord of the Rings fame) relished playing Widow Twankie (the dame from Aladdin).

In the book, Peter Pan is very masculine. He fights, plays and brags like a quintessential Victorian (English) boy. He is very brave and sees death positively, even though he is scared. However he is very fragile and often has nightmares (though he would never admit it whilst awake!)

If you have never read the book I truly recommend it, it is a classic. Please do not think I criticise, I don't, just wanted to point a few things out!

My name is Sidhe. I live in Oklahoma. When I found your site, I was initially taken aback. Why would a grown man dress like you dress? Why would you wear fairy clothes? I had never come across anybody like you before, but I felt a kinship with you. My favorite story when I was a child was the story of Peter Pan, because it represented freedom, and escape, and childhood, all the things I never had even as a child.

I was curious about you, and I slowly read everything on your site over a period of several days. I read your wikipedia page and I watched all the videos of you that were available online. I slowly turned everything I learned about you over in my head and I tried to understand you a little better.

What I ended up doing was understanding myself better. As I read your website and as I watched the videos of you, and as I continued to methodically turn everything over in my head, I was inescapably reminded of a part of myself that I had tried not to think about for a very long time. I was reminded of the child that I had tried to forget, the little girl and the little boy (I too am androgynous) who were still at play in some long-buried playground in the bottom of my self.

I am female in body but a mix of both in my mind. I've tried very hard to love what my body tells me is the truth and to ignore as best I can what my soul tells me is the truth. On top of that, I am still very much a child, and I don't know how to come to grips with that. I'm very much a boy, regardless of what my chromosomes tell me, and very much a girl as well, and I don't know how to reconcile them to each other.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you've made me think about a lot of things that I otherwise wouldn't have. And I think I understand a lot more about myself than I did a few days ago. I'm finally able to say-hey, it's okay to be the person I am. Look at this guy! He's doing it! He's normal and well-adjusted and sane and he's even engaged to be married and he dresses up like Peter Pan! He doesn't give a crap what other people think about him, and above everything else, he's happy! Surely then it wouldn't be totally crazy for me to buy a suit? Or wear fairy wings every now and then?

Have you guys ever been to Ann Arbor Michigan? I grew up there and they have fairy doors placed all around the city. You can get a map and see them one by one through out the day. They are little tiny doors that are hard to spot unless you are looking for them and visitors leave pennies and little gifts for them. Just wondered if you had heard about it. You should def. check it out.
