In reply to: 429CJ head had huge ports, and are coded D00, '78 460 heads aren't even close... 's message, ""same as a 429CJ" .....right!" on 17:17:12 12/02/02 Mon

So your callin me a liar!
You must be a pro to engines.. you must have given Mr Sanow his information!

You say the Cobra Jet heads are huge with huge ports.. Well these are just a lil bigger. INSTEAD of bein mr KNOW-IT-ALL, why dont you shut up and learn something,

For example Cobra Jet heads have
2.190" intake, 1.700" exhaust diameters BUT they only have 72 cc C Chambers!

The PI heads have
Chamber Volume = 88cc
Intake Valve = 2.20
exhaust = 1.74

AND PLUS include a bigger bore and stroke for more Torque!

I own the damn car and i'm telling you what it has, dont tell me (yah right) when you have absolutly nothin to back yourself on!

The late 70's ford PI's didnt have the compression of the 60's, so they had performance heads, and stroked motors to compensate for the bad gas!

My heads dont need any work done to them, as they already have a LARGER throat, and oversized ports!
I'm lookin for headers now and goin to see what exhaust to get for best flow AND back pressure!

I thought I knew it all as well, cause I wanted 11-1 compression as well, BUT boy was I wrong! and now i'm goin with MORE AIR! in and out.

Chris

"Going for more air in and out".....of your brain maybe! Why don't you port and polish those heads, and a 3" stainless exhaust with flowmasters, put a high lift cam in it, 10:1 pistons,etc,you'll have a real "hot" car there, nothing close to stock though, and the much lighter weight, more powerful higher torqued '71 429CJ will still kick your ass!10:24:47 12/03/02 Tue
