I don't agree with ads on police cars at all! While my head is not in the sand regarding budgets being tight, I really don't think that it is time to create squad car billboards.
Taxi cabs, mostly private companies, and buses are one thing. Most people are oblivious to the ads on those vehicles anyhow. But police cars, fire trucks, or ambulances? Those vehicles should project a professional, UNBIASED image to the public, representing the communities those vehicles serve. THATS ALL. Another point against, in my opinion, is liabilty. Just wait until an ad emblazoned squad car is involved in an accident while on a lights and siren response. Picture lawsuits about how some idiot who claims they didn't think it was a police car. It is bad enough running lights and sirens these days. How about the person that flees from an ad festooned police car? The way courts have become, I can see money lost, and fleeing charges dropped. As a result, no gain from using a "free" police car. Because everyone knows, there's always a catch.
