In reply to: Bearhawke in Az 's message, "Grainy: I agree with what you are saying re: license plate hassles.............but, what is to stop a potential terrorist from making a phony tag copying a bona fide plate and affixing said phony to the same model of vehicle?" on 20:47:56 08/26/02 Mon

Heck I've seen ones made from a color copier and they look pretty convincing. Again it only makes sense to avoid unwanted attention. I don't trailer my 29 yr old Fury because it needs to be driven long and hard a few times a year. I take it to D.C. but we run in tandem with a new PD car. I went to the Chrysler Nationals in Pa. and went down with a bunch of other big old C-body's . Still even at its age people just pull over into the opposite lane. I've even made sure that the rack light has clear lens so it does not draw attention. The point is our cars get attention no matter what, its the owners responsibility not to confuse the general public. Putting a 4 or 5 yr old ex-pd vehicle (marked) on the road is not acting responsible especially in these times. We must all in this hobby police ourselves or surely the "Police" will. I guess its time to review the basics in those various books about the hobby.
