I found all this very good food for thought, and it inspired me to have a talk with the Chief of Police in my hometown. He was impressed with what I do with my 67 Plymouth and the Historic Police Honor Guard, and gave me "letter of introduction" which basically is an open letter to other police stating that I am a well known legitimate car collector, and my car is used respectfully in shows and that I made an agreement with the police in my town to keep the lights covered, and magnetic emblems off when in motion on the road enroute to shows and parades. I keep this letter in the glovebox with the registration and insurance info to give any questioning officer. I don't know if other police chiefs will be as open as the one in my home town, but worth a try to all you other good and conscientious police car collectors -- maybe a letter like that can be won with responsible ownership and good communication!

Great, here goes another piece of our freedoms. Ban daily drivers. What's next? Ban all restored white police cars, because white is too close to reality? Most current squads are white, remember? And you sure do forget that when the hobby started, most in the hobby started out with daily drivers that were then restored. But maybe you are not in the hobby and wouldn't know much about it?Giant09:39:40 08/28/02 Wed

Yeah, daily driver, that means put lots of antennas and lights on the rear deck so everyone thinks your something your not, or as a total squirrel said @ a show last year " everybody thinks I'm a cop" (NT)Frank W09:44:33 08/28/02 Wed
