I happen to have been sent to NY to aid the WTC rescuers by my agency in California. I took along a minister from my church who is not a police chaplain like myself as well as two officers from the department. We spent 4 months dealing with the horror, the sadness, the trauma of it all. I wouldn't say it was fun but it was a "life-time experience", an experience that provided many rewards. One of the things I remember vividly is thinking, as we returned home, that no one outside the area of NY would be able to understand what I and my compatriots saw. I was VERY wrong about that. I have seen, heard and comforted many, many people both in my agency and in my church who have been deeply affected by what occurred on 9-11.
