How about doing fundraising that isn't asking >for more money from the girls and their families. Why >is it scholarship if the families and friends give the >money? Heck just hand it to your girl instead of >taking the chance some other girl gets it. Go out and >get real donors and scholarships instead of this >piddly you can get a crown if you are " peoples" >choice. It isn't peoples choice when money is involved. As a veteran who has aged out of the system, I can say that I have saw in years past that at state the young lady who made the top 10 as the Viewer’s choice went on to do very well. She may not win, but she has moved on and done well. As for the “rich daddy” comment many of these young ladies (not speaking about the OV prelim girls since I don’t know them) have went out and asked for sponsors to vote or for ad sponsors. It all goes into the scholarship fund that you or your daughter could potentially win this year or next year. I think it is a very creative way for a new preliminary to raise funds to help pay the scholarship. As for you saying it is not being the people’s choice when money is involved- It is the people’s choice if the contestant’s family and friends wants to vote for her. I applaud them for being willing to give and support their contestant and the scholarship fund. Watering down the integrity of the program? Do you forget if they want they can go at large in teen? They don’t even have to win a preliminary to go. So what’s the difference in them doing this and going at large? Nothing. Other than the fact that they have donated to a scholarship fund on a local level and not state. Don’t like it? Don’t vote. It is as simple as that. Besides, they have 13 girls and 3 advance on from the judges picks. It’s not like they are crowning everyone like some. Your comments and opinion is off. You should really do research on the program that you are scolding one for “watering down the integrity”. Let’s be honest, it’s late in the season and some of these very girls and more will show up at large anyway. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
