What happened at this pageant was the director did what was in the best interest of the contestants! Instead of tearing down a teenage young woman, she gave them a chance! She will work with those teens and foster character building, community service so that, in turn, they will be able to compete in Miss Kentucky pageant and continue to earn scholarships and an education.
Keep in mind there were 3 crowns, some girls were competing for a closed crown...some for the open crown. The best winner was chosen for Miss Cumberland Falls. Somone who is polished, refined, has a good interview and talent.
The girls competing for Miss SE KY and Miss Heart of KY were from all over the state. The judges got it right! They picked somone with brains, beauty, humbleness, talent and onstage presence.

The judges panel was a great panel! Singers, Dancers, Business sector, people with interview/communication skills etc. Negativity typically turns toward the judges if "their" winner isn't picked. This is just a copout instead of a growing opportunity.

Instead of tearing and scrutizing these girls, lets build them up and help the one's that didn't win pursue a title at a later date. We preach in interviews "What do you do about cyber bullying?" but the very one's that sit back and ask the questions are the one's doing it behind their back!
