I do not have as much problem buying an expensive gown as I do for all the mandatory FEES that are charged. Especially in Teen. It is unreal. I disagree with your assessment about Jon. He is a volunteer, doesn't get paid and is simply trying to provide a quality show for the girls and audience. I realize it does include the opening # dress but that can be cut down and still have the same performance value. Not to mention the crazy production outfit you have to buy. The MIN cost to compete is rougly $2K and that is if you get a cheap gown. The winner only gets like a $1K savings bond. I'm sure not everyone knows, MKOT is a fundraiser for Miss KY. MKOT does not get to keep money to help fund the pageant. It all comes from the girls' production fee, and people who generously volunteer their time. Where else do you suggest the money come from?
