In 2016, Jones was crowned Miss Florida's Outstanding Teen and went on to compete at Miss America's Outstanding Teen, where she placed in the Top Five, earning third runner-up, and earned both the Overall Dancer Award and a Preliminary Talent Award. It is unreasonable to think she will not do well at Miss America. It is also laughable to say that Florida’s best chance for a Miss America has passed and include Juliette Valle on that list. Valle made top ten but did not advance to top five, as did Christy Neuman in 1998, Kelly Gaudet in 2002, Mari Wilensky in 2006, Mary Katherine Fechtel in 2016, and Leah Roddenberry in 2022.
Miss America has taken on the mission of female empowerment. Female empowerment is about recognizing the strength, intelligence, resilience, and value of women in every aspect of society. For generations, women have fought for equal rights, equal opportunities, and the freedom to have their voices heard. Supporting women means more than offering words of encouragement — it means creating environments where women are respected, protected, uplifted, and given the same opportunities to succeed as anyone else. When women are empowered, the Miss America organization will grow stronger, communities become more compassionate, and society benefits from the talents and perspectives that women bring to leadership, education, business, and the arts. Supporting women is not about diminishing others; it is about ensuring that every woman has the confidence, resources, and freedom to pursue her goals without limitation or discrimination.
Unsolicited opinions rooted in negativity, contempt, or cruelty rarely contribute anything meaningful. Constructive dialogue can challenge ideas without demeaning people, but constant criticism offered without empathy or purpose often says more about the speaker than the person being targeted. Respectful communication should aim to inform, encourage growth, or foster understanding — not to diminish someone’s confidence, identity, or worth. In a world already filled with division and hostility, choosing kindness, restraint, and thoughtful words carries far more value than spreading bitterness disguised as “honesty.â€
