Thoughts on MA potentially crowning MS, who is the first foreign born Miss MS?
She is standing out wondering how publicity would go if she were crowned?

I think Robyn wants and needs media buzz that she thought Abbie would bring in. That was a flop aside from a couple yahoo articles about Abbie’s Utah Jazz connection. . .Robin would be silly to not want MS in the top 10 at the very least. (NT) No name

MD immigrated from Iran when she was nine. That is according to articles on the internet. But the political climate is over the top in many ways. Wait, wait, wait-- I just read below that Miss MS is a Ukrainian ORPHAN who was adopted at 12 and raised in MS. She was a Ukrainian orphan, adopted at 12, and came to Mississippi. The state didn't have a reaction because she is still a cookie cutter, beautiful girl, with a deep southern accent. Nobody would even know she spent half her life in the Ukraine. In fact, she's the only person I know who after living in the Ukraine for her first 12 years doesn't have that accent at all. The accent doesn't surprise me at all. That's about the right age for the development of accents. It being a deep southern accent, is understandable that she would naturally speak English with a southern accent. Most children don't develop their accents fully until adolescents. Especially if the English Teacher was from the deep south, with a southern accent. If that's where she learned the majority of English. That's the explanation. But also, close family/friends having a strong southern accent, would also affect the childs development of the English language with an accent. They will crown the person who scores highest in all phases of competition and is the most consistent. It doesn’t matter what state she is from, where she is born or what color her skin or her hair is. Candidate who excels consistently across all phases will win. Period. (NT) No name

Technically... if they use traditional Miss America final ballot scoring, the girl with the highest score wins. The judges do rank the girls & each position represents a score. There She Is= 10 pts; 1RU= 5pts; 2RU= 3pts; 3RU= 2pts; 4RU=1pt. Add up all those scores & the girl with the most points is Miss America! BUT, I get your point. All (prelim) scores are thrown out for Finals. It's a clean slate for competing in front of the new judges with fresh eyes who haven't seen them. Top 5 scorers tonight are the Finalists. The final question for T5 (topic- MAO) 'informs' their final ballot decision (but isn't scored).
