Subject: It was very justified, to me, that Tawny Godin won Miss America. She stood out with her All-American persona. Her original piano composition was a rarity. She later said it wasn't as good as she hoped, or something similar. But esteemed composer, Henry Mancini told her that he watched her on Miss America and that she deserved the win.

In reply to: Pageant Statistician 's message, "My bottom 10 Miss Americas (1959-2018) based on finals competition are: (1959) Mary Ann Mobley, (1963) Jacquelyn Mayer, (1967) Jane Jayroe, (1970) Pamela Eldred, (1974) Rebecca Ann King, (1976) Tawny Godin, (1996) Shawntel Smith, (2003) Erika Harold, (2015) Kira Kazantsev, (2018) Cara Mund. Mary Anne, Jane, Pamela and Erika had all won prelim awards (so theoretically couldn't have been too 'out of nowhere'), so my answer is my other 6 :)" on 05:45:38 01/30/26 Fri

This is an earnest question - what do you mean by 'All-American persona'? I love Tawny and am THRILLED that we have a liberal arts girl as a Miss America winner, but she was a nerdy weirdo who spoke like a newscaster lol. I also personally hate original piano compositions, because how on earth would I know if you're performing something well if the piece doesn't formally exist? lol. Though a Henry Mancini testimonial is a big deal! (NT)Pageant Statistician
