Subject: ....Who was the 1999 first runner-up at Miss Wisconsin you are remembering---and did she compete before her runner-up placement in 1999--and did she return again, how did she do? Also, if Mary Louse Kurey sang "Il Bacio (The Kiss) Waltz" by Luigi Arditi at Miss America---then that is the same opera number that another Miss Wisconsin sang (and won preliminary talent with) 13 years later when Author: Laura Kaeppeler was named Miss America in 2012. Subject Author Date The first runner-up was Miss Racine Catherine Apilado. It was the first time she competed at Miss WI and she never returned. She worked at Disney World for 13 years, I'm assuming after she graduated from college. And yes, Laura did sing the same song that Mary-Louise peformed. I believe that Laura wore the same talent gown at Miss WI that Mary-Louise used on the Miss America stage. But when Laura sang at Miss America, she wore a red Tony Bowls gown. Laura also used Mary-Louise's arrangement, except it had to be shortened by 30 seconds to meet the 90 second talent time limit.
