As it happens, in Yularian society, females are mostly in charge. They run the world, watch the gates, and so on.... Males are either killed at birth, or sealed inside the castle that contains the portal to the world on which the gates of the Eyer stand. The reason herein lies that Yularian's can see into their futures, and see the personality of their children. Females are all pure, always- they can do damage, but they won't willingly hurt something for no reason. Male Yularian's have a tendency to be violent. In the early days of the race, they would grow into violent or evil beings half of the time.

So, they started looking into the futures of the males. The ones that would grow as such were killed, and the rest who would be DECENT were sent into the castle as guardians.

Half-Kin have existed since the first Yularian's, but as a VERY rare occurrance. We simply ARE, we have no origins, no parents. We literally appear full grown and at full power. Ninetynine percent of all Half-Kin that have ever existed have been female. The other one percent, like myself, are male.

We are often hunted down and killed when we show up because there is an ever-present image in the minds of Yularian priestesses that it will be a male Half-Kin that cracks the seal of the Yularian Dragons and Yularian Phoenixes in the Red Moon System. They are trying to stop that from happening because those creatures are very much Etherial Beings, and the mortals would try to manipulate them to their own ends.... Which would be bad.

There was another Half-Kin wandering around a while back that was trying to do this. He was going about it indirectly, trying to release them out into the upper realms by bending given rules here and there. He was quite close, too- his success would have meant that the creatures would never be able to access the realm that we are currently in. Hence, mortals couldn't manipulate them.

So, yeah..... When and if a male does pop up somewhere, they usually don't live for very long. I have been blessed in that I managed to evade them long enough to get myself a good reputation, and am hence not hunted anymore. Which is good, because it means I'm free to worry about other things.

Male Half-Kin are generally much more powerful than the women are when it comes to their magic, simply because we all draw from the same reserves of power, but they're split up between the men and the women as well as the various elements. I have the reserves of fire for the males entirely to myself. Actually....

I'm the only male Half-Kin wandering around at the moment. The magical reserves are mine.

~+~*He shrugged.*~+~

Lucky me, I suppose. I hate being the only guy.....
