Subject: Getrag 240 in 87 325iC?? Need tranny help!!

My 1987 325iC has roughly 175,000 miles or so and last night i believe i lost almost all syncros! After driving on the highway for approx. 1.5 hours i exited and after hitting a stoplight noticed that first was hard to engage and that i had to put the clutch in and out a few times before it would engage. Then after needing to reverse at one point i realized that reverse gear was also tough to engage. Two hours later i got back to driving and it appeared that the only gears that had syncromesh left were third and fifth. The other gears were still accessible but i had to perfrom almost perfect double clutch downshifts...upshifts were still fine if done quickly and precisely. So i believe that the syncros were no longer doing there job and the car is inoperable in the driveway. Without being able to check visably the tranny etc and without noting the level of fluid (no apparent leaking or traces....plus it was changed within the last 8 months) i am leaning towards the syncros.

So my question is will a getrag 240 tranny fit into my 5 speed manual 87 325iC?? I believe i have the "no label" tranny currently. Which others will fit? How much roughly for a used tranny? Finally how hard (mechanics hours) to install? Thank you very much for any help/guidance that you all can give me!!
