Subject: Alright, just pulled my head, few questions etc

I pulled the head off without drama, very easy. Combustion chambers look very good. All original cross hatch marks are still there, i dont have a ridge at the top of any clyinders. the pistons had minimal carbon buildup, it all wiped clean with a rag dampened with a light solvent.

However... as expected most cylinders had a good deal of oil in them. and even after totaly cleaned out, on each rotation, they slopped more oil all over the cylinder walls. poor rings are done for :(

Each piston also has about .8mm-1mm of side to side slop in the cylinder. I havnt got a clue if this is normal for a m20, and i know that some side to side slop, like a papers width is ok, but nearly 1mm!! this cant be normal....

The valves were had more buildup then anything else, and some even on the seal area. this may have been preventing a 100% close, and causing some of the bad compression.

I already knew the rings had to be bad, given the oil in the chambers, and the gas in the oil.

Also #6 piston had some light scaring, looks like some debris got into there, i dont know how, but the damage is light, nothing to worry about.
