My step father serves off multiple redundant T1's, about 12, and he is only taking survey information, and this at most times during the day, manages to only use next to NONE of that bandwidth of the T1's.

I think that a single T1 line wont cut it, as it is only 1.5mbps, that isnt all that much, at all...

i think its a great idea, but you need a more serious machine to host.

my stepfather has raised the notion, that he would be willing to host a forum for us, using the free forum software PHPBB ( http://www.phpbb.com/ )

now i think this is a lovely idea, but i didnt want to step forth with this idea, until i saw that some of you gave a damn enough to begin brainstorming.

lets hear some feedback on this, and i can go from there
