Let me preface this with two comments:

1) I hope Gus is just on vacation and not seriously ill or hurt.

2) I'm not trying to steal Gus's board or his thunder, I just don't think our community can hold together all that well like this.

Okay, now onto business. I was hoping the server would be back up by now so this would all be moot but seems like nothing is really happening so I was going to build up a server tonight to serve as an emergency forum and host to the technical articles for now at least and if nothing happens continues to happen, well...... I intend to more or less mimic the original BEN. I intended to use the original software that was unmodified.

I know some people had offered some help so if you have any expertise in this field, drop me a line (off the board is probably better). I'll be building the server on Solaris 9 on an Ultra 2 with a pair of 300Mhz CPU, 512MB ram or so, and a pair of 9GB drives. I have a T1 I can sap off of right now and I really don't think bandwidth will be a problem. But I will be starting grad school in August and at that time I think I can move the server there and sap off the unlimitted university bandwidth, otherwise I know I can use the T1 for quite some time. I think we should be able to operate pretty much sans donations.

Any comments or suggestions or offers to help appreciated.
