Subject: Vlad, pix for you (odd connector), Bill, pix for you (rust looking stuff on my spare bottlecap rim--Tnucu claims it as possible old embedded brake dust?)--(long...longer than this subject line)

goto www.angelfire.com/tx3/headbanger/bmwpix.html

on this site, if you wait for the pix to load, perhaps refresh or force it to show the pictures for any that time out (all html is solid code), then scroll down; you'll find a caption that talks about the pictures below that "may or may not stay."

Vlad, do you know what that two prong connector is with the two thin wires with boots going to it? Tnucu said the group of wires just underneath it were a group that 98% of them were all of the wires to the ECU, but did not know what the 2 prong connector was. Again do you know what it is, and if it has nothing to do with the ECU, do I test w/the multitester with any of the wires in that harness to the ECU, or did you have a different connector in mind? Were you talking about the ICV connector?
-----------------------------
Bill, not counting the rust bonded to the rim from the hub on the back of the wheel, that's the stuff i was talking about. mainly on the front of that spare rim (I didn't get all the brake dust off the back when I took pictures). sure looks like rust to me but it's an aluminum alloy right? can't rust, oxidizes differently, so what do you think?
--------------------------

Different issue, in the last picture on the page, if there's enough lighting there, you should be able to see the heatshields on my OEM exhaust. They long ago rusted away from their brackets, and almost incessantly rattle, making it hard to hear the engine, and overall making a horrid sounding noise to be coming from a car (like the e30 hehe). I've once tried really jamming wadded up aluminum foil into the ends, like really hard, and it worked for a few days until the foil of course began to fall out. I'm back to square one again. Any suggestions on more solid temporary fixes until I can just replace the exhaust or if possible the heatshields (although that doesnt seem to be an option)?

Thanks y'all!
