My daughter told me that during Miss Texas week she was nothing but obnoxious and blatantly rude and her mother is even worse. This title should've gone to someone else. She was in my Top 20 for her overall performance. FWIW, Friday night’s talent prelim was much stronger than Thursday’s and unfortunately Alabama put hands down on her Ariel. I had Mississippi in my Top 15, but you never know how those private interviews went. Maryland’s service initiative that relates to hunger is a perfect connection to Salvation Army, an overlooked Miss Volunteer alliance and her talent will be used for national anthems etc. She’ll likely benefit from Jay’s connections as well. I heard the board member and local directors that left were trying to take over the pageant and to be honest it was the best thing for the organization that they left. I was at the pageant and it was top notch all the way from production to crowing. They crowned two really strong competitors who will do great at nationals. From what I’m hearing the Miss South Carolina Volunteer Pageant is the premiere pageant for South Carolina and consists of a board that runs a fair and competitive pageant. Production was great from the outside but horrible as a contestant. Poor communication throughout, very disorganized, and still do not know what the prize package was. The S in S.E.R.V.E. stands for Scholarship yet we were never told, nor was it announced, what the scholarship would be. State board did not submit Sweetheart paperwork in time so no runner up has the opportunity to compete there. Very few contestants will be returning. It will not grow with the current board. MS is gorgeous; GA is one of the most respected pageant girls in the state (switched from MAO, headed for med school) and will help the program recruit: SC also beautiful and a seasoned former MAO contestant (was SC Teen, I think?). The teens actually do more in their reigns and are much more visible than most of the Miss State representatives .
