- No (NT) -- No name, Thu February 10, 2022 20:21:50
- Yea she was ! (NT) -- No name, Thu February 10, 2022 20:23:32
- She was disqualified, but it wasn't for cheating. She took a piece of her competition wardrobe from the dressing room to the hotel to clean it without getting approval. Once checked in, you're not supposed to do that. She didn't realize that, but it is her job to know the rules, which were enforced. The competition had already started. It was an awful situation and a painful lesson for her to learn, I'm sure. But let's not overstate what happened here. It was an honest mistake and the pageant acted with integrity to hold her accountable to the rules. It should be put to rest. It's not that serious. (NT) -- No name, Sun February 13, 2022 18:52:17
- Breaking the rules is the same as cheating . She knew what she was doing and got caught (NT) -- No name, Sun February 13, 2022 21:12:25
- Getting DQ’d in the state pageant is no little thing . I wonder how she pulled off getting appointed . I’m sure Allison wasn’t aware of it (NT) -- No name, Sun February 13, 2022 21:23:58
- Or, maybe Allison is aware of it, but cares about the girls and doesn't think getting a dress cleaned, while against the rules, isn't worth canceling her over. I'm thrilled that she is getting another chance and that she chose the Volunteer program. (NT) -- No name, Mon February 14, 2022 14:30:00
- It is no little thing. It was a devastating consequence for the young woman. I think we as a society also need to consider the fact that there was no malicious intent behind the act. Rules are rules and Jordan was help accountable - but she also doesn't deserve to be canceled. Monique Evans was disqualified for having outside hair and makeup people at the state pageant - that is more akin to cheating. She was rightfully removed, came back, competed fairly (and wonderfully), won Miss Texas and had a great showing at Miss America. It is a story of redemption and forgiveness and not being canceled and I think Jordan deserves the same. We all do because none of us can pass a purity test. I'm rooting for her and think she can do very well! (NT) -- No name, Mon February 14, 2022 14:41:34
- If she was do innocent why didn’t she go back to MAO ? Because she was welcome back into that organization. She has a history of bad behavior . Ask the Oklahoma people about her (NT) -- No name, Mon February 14, 2022 20:30:03
- People like you come to mind. Look, like the poster above said, she was not blameless. She made a mistake and was held accountable for it. The "history of bad behavior" sounds like a bunch of micro aggressive nonsense. She was never disqualified from any pageant in Oklahoma that I recall...in fact, she competed quite successfully as I recall, made top 5 or top 10 every year. The whole "bad behavior" trope is a purity standard applied to strong women and even more so to strong women of color who are expected to stay in their lane, toe the company line, be "manageable", and don't make too much noise. That we would ask ANY modern young woman to act like a 1950's sitcom housewife is why pageants have become a joke to people outside our circle. I have faith that Allison has a much different vision for Volunteer America and I think each of the inaugural state titleholders reflect the evolution of pageantry...and that certainly includes Jordan. (NT) -- No name, Tue February 15, 2022 09:23:52
- I was waiting for you to start with the racist implications. This has nothing to do with her race . She’s trouble just ask the OK girls (NT) -- No name, Tue February 15, 2022 12:12:02
- You were waiting for that? Sounds like you’ve been called out before. But as someone who clearly comes from the Oklahoma pageant system, it doesn’t surprise me one bit. The state isn’t known for being kind to Black titleholders, all of whom seem to get reputations for being “difficult to work with”. I think the problem is likely that o conscious and unconscious bias that is pervasive in a state that is best known for the mass genocide of native Americans. So, I’ll just file that in “commentary from a pageant dinosaur” file, roll my eyes and give you an earnest “Bless your heart.” 😘 (NT) -- No name, Wed February 16, 2022 19:49:20
- Thank you for your very measured, respectful, and imo, wise, posts. Great explanation of the situation and its implications. When someone makes a low effort, throw away post- especially an accusation with no receipts (she's trouble), I love to see posts that give context and educate, and you did it so graciously. Well done! (NT) -- people like you make the board better, Wed February 16, 2022 21:08:49
- If you want to use the race card every time someone disagrees with you go back to MAO . Volunteer will not but up with all this BS wokeness . The best girl will win regardless of her race , creed or religion. Enough is enough . (NT) -- No name, Thu February 17, 2022 18:17:08
- Breaking the rules is not always the same thing as cheating. There are grey areas. For example (because it's the winter Olympics and I'm obsessed), in short-track speed skating, if a skater slips and bumps into another skater, knocking them off their line, the slipping skater is disqualified, even though the slip was unintentional and gave them no competitive advantage. In the case of Jordan, cleaning a competition garment is allowed - things get dirty during prelims and in the dressing room. But, candidates have to get approval to take wardrobe pieces out of the dressing room after they've been checked in - or they have to work with the hostesses to address the issue. - If so many of the girls were just appointed without competing then it’s a joke of a pageant . Volunteer had two years to get this going . Some states did . To just appoint someone is an insult to the girls that actually competed . (NT) -- No name, Tue February 15, 2022 17:24:08
- I don't know why you keep saying that. Some states just haven't been able to generate the interest yet (and in some cases, like GA, they have had to fight against a state MAO organization that appears to be actively trying to deter girls from doing Volunteer). Even MAO is having trouble getting contestants and is now allowing at large miss contestants (GA just announced this, before the local season was even over; which certainly could be seen as a "slap in the face" to those who competed). I thought this board was to support the Voluteer system? For the first year of a national pageant, having almost 50 state reps is remarkable. (NT) -- No name, Wed February 16, 2022 08:19:40
- It doesn't take anything away from the quality of the women who are competing. OK, NY, NJ for example all have strong talents, strong interviews, strong SS/gown - track records to back them up. The fact that some of these states are sending appointed delegates doesn't indicate there wasn't interest - it just means they couldn't find directors - and when you have MAO actively campaigning against the organization, it makes it all the more difficult. There is room for all systems. We need to stop actively trying to eliminate opportunities for these women because of our own egos and celebrate growth of opportunity. (NT) -- No name, Thu February 17, 2022 11:05:00
- Based on their prior pageant history, following their social media, seeing some in person, and watching at least clips from the state pageants, my top 5 right now are TN, GA, LA, SC, and MS (NT) -- No name, Wed February 16, 2022 08:25:08
- Well there you go . Let’s just cancel the pageant and just base everything on Facebook and twitter . I sure hope you are not a judge . To make assumptions on that criteria is scary (NT) -- No name, Wed February 16, 2022 12:10:33
- Wow, there are nasty ass people on this board. It is common before a major pageant for people to state THEIR OWN OPINION of who they think will succeed. A prior poster snarkily questioned on what someone else based their opinion, so I simply stated my basis. Sorry it didn't include your girl, or whatever the reason is behind your level of hostility. Dude, chill. People have opinions.l. (NT) -- No name, Wed February 16, 2022 14:14:55
