Again the Metrowest Daily News has a front page, B-1 article of more lunacy by our residential "give away all our town monies" Herb Chasan. May 22, 2013.

The town meeting wisely sees the lunacy of this man giving away our town to his pet projects.

FRAMINGHAM —

Town Meeting Tuesday shot down citizen requests to spend nearly $200,000 on a sports court and other activities in an attempt to keep poor Southside kids out of trouble.

Taking the requests one by one, increasingly frustrated Town Meeting members said they liked the intent, but couldn't burden taxpayers with the cost of carrying the ideas out.

In a series of votes, Town Meeting opted to send the citizen petitions Precinct 4’s Herb Chasan and others brought forward back to sponsor. They included requests for $97,000 to build a multipurpose court and $3,000 for community gardens near low-income housing in Precinct 17. A third sought $79,000 to create a teen advisory group and fund programs – ranging from science to cooking classes - all over town.

"This is a beautiful idea and I would love to live in this little fantasy world" of thinking the town can pay for it, Precinct 6 member Bill Osborne said. He urged his fellow voters to reject the request.

Chasan said the programs for teens would have a broad appeal and are aimed at helping at-risk youth "avoid the temptations of the streets."

Precinct 10’s Bill McCarthy argued it would be "fiscally irresponsible" for Town Meeting to support any of the proposals.

"We can not appropriate dollars we don’t have," he said.

Maria Rosado, resident services manager at Precinct 17’s Pelham Apartments on Taralli Terrace urged support for the $3,000 to create the community gardens at her complex, saying it would make a difference in the residents' lives.

Rosado said the project would reduce crime, improve the quality of life and allow the reisdents to grow their own food and make healthy choices.

Precinct 2 member Gloria Geller suggested grant funding would be a better way to get the project off the ground without burdening taxpayers.

"I certainly think there are avenues that can be explored," she said.

The Finance Committee and Standing Committee on Ways and Means also spoke out against the citizen petitions.

Town Meeting, continuing its business, voted late Tuesday to spend $250,000 to beef up school security.

Late Tuesday, Town Meeting was taking up the proposed sale of the town-owned Jonathan Maynard Building to the Danforth Museum.

My comment:
Town meeting is getting people, probably recruited by Herb Chasan himself, that have no financial responsibility to the taxpayers but their own pet projects. These people should'nt even be in town meeting, including Herb Chasan himself, His actions are an embarrassment or as the quoted Town meeting memebr said:
"fiscally irresponsible".

These people think the town is a 5013C charity. Shame on them and those who even support this lunacy.
