Subject: The Future

It has been a while since I last posted so I decided to update everyone.

My college days are winding down, only a couple of weeks left. It is hard to believe my college days are over. I has been a good experience and I enjoyed my time here. At first I wasn't sure I wanted to attend here, but I am glad I did. Playing college basketball has been a great experience, I enjoyed it a lot.

Kala and I have been interviewing for teaching/coaching jobs for next fall and we have made our choice. Kala and I are both going home to teach. She will be teaching 4th grade at an elementary school and I will be teaching middle school science.

My main coaching job will be assisting the 9th grade basketball coach at my old high school. I will work with the boys on their fundamentals. I will also be attending the varsity games and assisting the head coach, my old varsity basketball coach. My old coach taught me a lot about playing, and I am sure I could learn a lot from him about coaching.

The middle school I will be teaching at has a good basketball coach who has developed a good system and is a great feeder for our high school. I will be doing some coaching at my middle school, I will be one of two assistant football coaches at my middle school. I am looking forward to this also.

Of course, our offer of employed in contingent upon completing spring semester and graduating.

The position I accepted is the one I really wanted, but there was one possibility I also found interesting. It was at a small Class B school about 35 miles from home - I could have been the head coach. The facilities and gym were okay, but they needed new uniforms and equipment. The school is reluctant to spend on athletics so I would have to have done fund raisers to buy uniforms and equipment. I understand money can to be tight, but you do need to spend a few dollars on the program if you are going to offer basketball. The school has a so-so win/lost records and some want to build a program and improve things, others are happy with the way things are, I might not want to be caught in the middle. It could have been fun building a program, changing the attitude and making a winner.

I hope everyone is doing well.
