Rinali smiled warmly at T’rtatus, inclining her head his offer to sit, and taking the chair he offered with the elegant acceptance of a queen. She liked the brownrider – he always flattered her above her retired station, and it appealed to the part of her that every Weyrwoman has (though some are better at concealing it than others): the arrogance. “It would be a pleasure, brownrider.” She told him, the smile on her face making a mockery of her formality. “And I’m glad you remembered my favourite type of wine.”

The queenrider wasn’t a big wine drinker. She liked to be perfectly in control of her actions at all times, and alcohol diminished that. But a glass or two with a friend was hardly anything to get het up about, was it? She could feel Lilith’s pleasure at being complimented, and smiled once again at the brownrider she was sitting with – too few dragons these days bothered to flirt with a retired queen. They were all too busy trying to curry favour with the younger ones.

Lilith preened at Ojeth’s flattery, cocking her shining head coyly and arching her neck to show off the fine curve. Now Ojeth, surely you can see that the space by my side here gets more sun than the space by you? A human might have batted her eyelashes at this point, and it was all Rinali could do not to chuckle at her dragon’s flirting. But Lilith could make even the most suggestive comments seem dignified. And you wouldn’t ask a lady to move, would you?

“So, T’rtatus, how are you? I’ve been meaning to seek you out, actually, regarding your sister, Halzay.” A strange thing, that even when Rinali was with an old friend, her responsibilities were not far from her mind.
