[Thank you very much, then!] Elly smiled at Shadow warmly. It was nice to know someone else who could sign – she could speak, of course – but her words weren’t always clear enough for everyone to hear!

Salty frowned a little at Greythorn, slightly put out. “Isn’t that a good thing?” He asked incredulously, trusting Shadow to carry on with the translation. “I mean…if he wanted to Impress…nothing lasts forever!”

Elly gestured to Shadow [Wait just a minute] and tapped Salty. [You are digging yourself into a hole.] She told him in amusement. [You may want to try and stop making it deeper.] Salty had a habit of doing that. The young man grinned sheepishly at his sister, and turned back to the rest of the group, waiting for rescue.

Elly herself turned back to Shadow. [Sorry. My brother talks before he thinks.] It was a trait that had got him into a lot of trouble with their father…and cost him a few black eyes and broken ribs. [You sign very fluently! How did you and the others all meet?]
