Subject: I agree! What the heck is an ont? Two Halves of One Whole
In reply to: Elly and Salty 's message, "Watch my ont? What's an ont? (*Grin*)" on 13:23:22 01/23/05 Sun

Terent noticed that everyone was signing. Well, if everyone included Shadow, Salty, and the new girl, Elly.

He said, "He Impressed? Was he Searched or, what? And does his mother know?"
While he was out, he had met Maria. He had actually spoken a few words, if a pleasant 'hello', and few mumbled words, and a hasty 'good-bye' were conversation.

I will not think about that he told himself. The thought that had popped into his head was how he knew how to sign. It was far too painful. Risda, his foster mother, had been mute, and his foster father, Farit, had been more than slightly deaf. Therefore, he had learned to sign.

{{Hi, I'm T-E-R-E-N-T.}}
He added the little sing that had come to mean his name. A 'T', on the back of his left hand that formed the symbol for wing. A winged 'T', it you please.

Terent said, "Well, Salty, I think what Graythorn's trying to say is that their sad that K'rea isn't really one of them anymore. After all, if he's a dragon rider, then he'll be involved with Weyrling lessons. By the way, has anyone met any other the other Weyrlings?"
As he spoke, he used his long fingers to sign a short handed version. He had gotten lazy after the first three Turns, and learned to use as few words as possible when signing.

[Langerith?]
Yes, L'geri?
[Well, I was just wondering...]
What?
[Can we meet some of the other people in the weyr?]
Certainly. You go ahead, I will stay here by the big heat.
[Fire, Langer]
Langerith, if you please.
[Fine.]

L'geri settled Langith on his left arm, and his unfinished platter of roast wherry in his right hand. In his left hand, he held the mug of kalh, still warm.
"Hiya. Is this seat taken? I'm L'geri, rider of blue Langerith."
He looked from An old friend, Terent, to the three girls, and two other boys. He thought he knew one of them, Faini, but face, but he wasn't sure about the other names or faces.
