In reply to: Trag~Baki~Tyri 's message, "~Wishful~Thinking~(Heh. Well, Tsuga put his titles like this, so I will, too.)" on 12:21:28 02/27/05 Sun

((Well, I think he should go for a watchwher when one of the golds clutches, but I'm highly prejudiced in that matter and should be ignored. *grin* More seriously, you'd have to check it with El, but it might be interesting [though I'm not actually sure it's the first time]. Does put his dragon at a disadvantage for flights and stuff for a while, though.))

At the revelation of Trag's real age, D'minic does a comical-looking but completely serious double-take. He'd never imagined that the boy was still so young. Okay, so I'd never actually thought about it at all, just looked at how big he was getting.... Heck, I don't know my own age, how should I remember his? He's near twenty, give or take a year, but during the complete disorientation of the disasters - and the more personal disorientation of the worst case of fire-head the healer who treated him had ever seen - he'd lost track of the seasons, and he's never completely regained a grasp on the time he lost then. Oh, he knows his birthday... just not whether that birthday will mean he's turned twenty, twenty-one, or twenty-two. Shaking off the shock, the brownrider grins jovially at Trag. "Only ten? I wouldn't have believed it! Wait- tomorrow?!" Now his expression changes to one of dismay, as he hadn't even realized the significance of the day. He quickly re-masters himself, though, hauling the grin back on through force of will. "Sorry, you know I'm not good with dates," he says sheepishly, running a hand through his black hair in an automatic nervous gesture. "Well, we'll have to celebrate, won't we?" Privately, he sends a message to his dragon. /Ulyssanth, Ulyssanth, wake up./

What is it? the brown grumbles good-naturedly, the soft liquidness of sleep still flavoring his mental voice.

/Did you know Trag's birthday was tomorrow?/

Ulyssanth's reply is rich with amusement. Of course I did. I was going to tell you later, when you weren't actually talking to him. I have things planned, don't worry. This is by no means normal for the young brown, whose philosophy seems to hinge on the notion of throwing away the map, but he likes Trag enough to make an effort because he knows his rider, for all his good intentions, will forget.

/Thank you, Ulyssanth, you're wonderful./ Relief heavily tinges the surge of love D'minic sends through their bond, but his dragon won't be offended. That settled, the young man returns his full attention to the boy in front of him. "I hate to spoil it, but most of the riders here do know you, Little 'Lizard," he points out drily, one eyebrow raised. "There are fewer who don't. And you can't trick dragons. You'd have to sneak in, or ask permission, and I wouldn't advise trying to sneak up on a gold." Then the attempt to be a respectable authority fails, and the brownrider grins impulsively. "Though it might be fun if you managed to keep from annoying her."
