Imagine that in the near future, and its happening already, the next evolution of marriage will be polyamory relationships, i.e. having more than one spouse. You find yourself in a female led marriage where your strong minded, take-charge wife, as the primary breadwinner, wears the pants in the relationship, controls the finances, and makes all of the major decisions. You've accepted your wife's dominance and your somewhat secondary place in the marriage.
You love each other deeply and are very happy together.
However, one day your wife informs you, while assuring you of her ongoing love, that she has met a wonderful man she is very attracted to and would like to date him. She promises that she will not let this effect or interfere in your love for each other or your marriage. Like the dutiful husband you are, you lovingly accept her assurances and give your blessing, much to your wife's delight, to her dating this new man. Eventually, your wife brings him home to meet you, he turns out to be a tall, masculine confident man with a very successful career and a dominant but gentle personality. You observe that your wife is very happy and obviously in love with him. She practically swoons over this man and appears to be lovingly submissive in his presence. Still she continues every day to show you her undiminished love in her dominant, controlling way. Slowly you get to know the man better and you grow quite fond of him, and him of you. Your wife is so pleased with this outcome, and you want her to be happy.
Finally, after many months of dating, over a lovely dinner with the three of you, your wife and this man inform you that they are proposing the three of you enter into a polyamorous triad marriage. They tell you excitedly that there would be a new wedding ceremony, your wife would get to wear a beautiful, white bridal gown again, you and your delightedly approving mother-in-law would proudly walk your beautiful, beaming wife down the isle in her gorgeous white gown and happily 'give' her away to her waiting, handsome new husband, you would then join them to participate in the marriage ceremony and say your 'I dos' and 'we dos', help kiss the bride with the grooms then embracing, walking back down the isle together with the radiant bride holding each of her grooms' hands while the crowd oohs and awws and shouts congratulations, then the three of you would go away for a wonderful, exciting honeymoon, before returning to live together in a new house as husband, wife, and husband.
Astonished, you look at them, their faces are bright and hopeful as they wait for you to respond to their marriage proposal. What do you do? Do you get up and run out the door screaming and file for divorce? Or do you turn to them and say...yes...of course.
What would the reader do? What does the reader think of this idea?
