While my interest in spanking revolves around what I experienced and witnessed as a boy growing up, I do appreciate how a spanking discipline regime that mimics those kinds of experiences can also exist in adult relationships.

From what you describe, minus the sexual component, I can see some parallels to my experiences in the spankings you get from your husband. I find that dynamic you live under to be exciting, and I also understand the sexual nature of it. To be honest, I find it hard to understand adult domestic discipline that is not motivated by sexual desires, however, the sexuality does not necessarily make a spanking ineffective as authentic discipline, or something you want to tell your friends about.
