Jim: The Chaz and I like to talk to people, like yourself, on this forum, because we have spent some time on single axis golf, and we amaze that, after all these years, NG can't get it right, and continues a course, which is, essentially, an untruthful course.

Let me explain something to you. If you widen the stance enough, say 45 inches toe-to-toe (not heel-to-heel), with a driver, and I recommend that you try this, you will feel that all you do is swing the arms. This is called, "extreme position mechanics", and yours truly coined this phrase for Moe. However, what you want to do is to look at what is happening, when you stand extremely wide. In order to get a downswing, the hips will rotate out of the right hip, and precede the downswing, with the arms. You can't swing, without doing this!!!

That's where NG came up with the arms swinging defining the body motion, but it is incorrect. The lower unit moves forward as the hands are still going backwards.

This is the important part to understand. As you lessen the width of that stance, and get an understanding of this basic fact, i.e., you rotate out of the right hip, onto the bent left leg...you don't slide...you begin to understand the fallacy of the arms directing the body in a Moe type swing.

Hope this helps.

Remington
