Subject: an isult to the people of The Cook Islands
In reply to: 's message, "huh?" on 03:58:52 02/28/00 Mon

You just insulted everyone in the Cook Islands. Trust me, the mind set in Bougainville is far different from that of the Cook Islands and the Solomons as well. Those people know how to work together in harmony, something that has thus far eluded the people of PNG and Bougainville in particular.

As far as taking care of the land is concerned. When I see the villagers of PNG place gardens on unstable hillsides one year and then return the following year to see that that patch of ground has eroded and slid to the bottom of the hill and see that they just moved higher up the hill with a new garden only to repeat the process, I have to wonder, "What the hell are they thinking?" So much for care of the land.

To say that the problem with Haiti is all the fault of the slavery mentality, explain the other side of the island, The Dominican Republic, are these not people with the same hertitage and backgrounds? The different is the management of the governmemt and it's people. That was the comparison I was trying to make. Only a good united effort by all PNGineans is going to succeed. In the long run Bougainville will loose without this. The question is, who will emerge as the "Pappa Doc" of Bougainville and what happens then?
