The point is that we do almost no downstream processing of our nonrenewable resources, which is a problem because they are NONRENEWABLE. Because we are in a big debt to foreign governments and banks, and because the government does nothing to educate the citizens on the fact that most of the so called development that has come to PNG is nonsustainable and already collapsing, there is more thirst to export more and more raw resources faster and faster.

Maybe before we were using only 5 toea worth of our resources and getting 5 toea from our 'development' of those resources.

Now we are getting 10 toea for our resources because we are utilising the overseas market and selling more of it. But we aren't actually losing 10 toea of our resources to get this 10 toea. We are using more than K1 worth of resources just to get the 10 toea.

America did not develop this way. They got almost every toea for every toea's worth of resources. We are exporting our resources at a steep discount because we are not doing all the processing ourselves, and the processing companies are not owned by Papua New Guineans.

Thus, the American model is not the model we are following.
