Your Concerns are good ones but I am afraid you are using this particular forum as an example of all forums. First of all, this particular forum was born out of the Divine Word/ Bill WHite scadal. It's very purpose was to be able to attack back and forth while remaining Anonymous. This has been pretty much accomplished and I think that the people (with the exception perhaps of Bill White) are tired of this issue and ready to move on to other issues.

You question the chances of having a good productive forum for PNG. Don't be doing that. PNG is just like any other country where forums are used as a method of communication. In the US there are hundreds of forums, some good, some bad, and some absolutely rediculous. What makes a good forum is the people who take part in it.I am willing to bet that there have been many people in PNG who have visited this forum at least once in the past six months and were turned off by what they saw on here with the White thing. Had the topics been more general and intelligent then they might have joined in the discussions. Forums with a large contributing membership do not arise over night unless there is a scandal. The Clinton sex scandal caused many forums to be started at the time and thousands of people jumped on them. But they are all gone now. However, there are some forums that have good discussion groups that have been going on for years now. We can do that on here as well.

This is a good place to stay. All we have to do is discuss issues that concern a lot of people in PNG. Keep the name calling and badgering down. I haven't read it yet, but the next topic on here is about Nugini Airlines. OK! there is something that concerns everyone in PNG. Perhaps that is a good topic for now. But you can't belabor it. Discuss it for a week or so, Come to some conculsion, write a letter to the government explaining how you feel and then move on to another topic.

As I see it there is one problem with this particular forum. It is ok not to give your real name on any forum. Use a nick name. But anytime you have a forum where everyone is named Anonymous it can only get out of control. If someone has a valid point somewhere in a chain, you need to be able to address that person by name, (or nickname) so that everyone can know what thought you were addressing at the time.

Communication between different diverse people is very important. This forum has the potential to allow that to happen.
