Subject: We will finally catch up to developed countries in education in about 300 years

I agree with you. I also agree that the statistical comparison is valid. In fact the point was made that the comparision is germane, all other points being equal. That is the first level comparision that we operate under. The second level comparison is how that baseline can be modified by differential education, i.e. Australia has achieved more than its fair share of Nobel prize winners compared to Italy.

Right now our educational system is so hopeless and even continuing regression and degeneration that it is truly make up cargo cult dreaming that the situation will change in the foreseeable future. There is not even a committed foundation of concerned citizens to DEMAND THAT THE GOVERNMENT START PUTTING RESOURCES INTO EDUCATION. Instead we demand chicken projects, outboard motors, and the like.

Do we have any more than 1 or 2% of our population with 4 year university education? Doesn't that compare with about 25% with the same education in the USA? We have only achieved 1 or 2% after 25 years of independence.

Do a mathematical calculation and tell me how many years before we get to 25% with university education. Looks to me like it will be about 300 years at the current rate.
