Jeff-
Remember Maine played less games last year. They canceled their last two games at Binghamton due to a bad tarp (gee, how did that happen-- anyone see Bull Durham?) and came home. Then Northeastern and Vermont didn't play their last two because it was moot.
The reason that Vermont and Northeastern did not play two games is that the Northeastern coach jerked around with the schedule. He canned the whole series in April based on a bad forecast and it turned out to be nice. I know, I went over to Parsons on the Sunday and was shocked there was no one there. The next day, a monday usually reserved for makeups, it was good enough for NU to practice.
The two schools tried other makeup times but McPhee only wanted to play on May 13th since he it was the Tuesday after his non-league weekend. He had his two best pitchers rested but Vermont beat them with their fifth and sixth guys.

Sounds like Neil McPhee has too much control.... -- mainejeff, 18:52:23 05/16/03 Fri
The conference should determine when conference gameas are played, not the Northeastern coach. I've always hated that guy.

Hey Jeff is there anyone at Northeastern you can tolerate? I mean your hatred for the Huskies seems to be more than a passing fancy.
Seems like people on this board think that Northeastern has some weird control over the people at the AE office, when in fact, it couldn't be further from the truth.

Actually, when I was an undergrad I had a "I Hate Northeastern" t-shirt made to wear to Maine-NU sporting events. NU used to beat Maine in everything, so that's where that comes from. My latest tirade just stems form what seems like McPhee being a d*ck about re-scheduling the Vermont games, and its indirect impact on Maine. The conference should have stepped in and said......you're playing these games on these dates......no ifs, ands, or buts! I mean, they had over a month to make-up these games!
