Subject: Advice

So I've been together with my gf for a few years. We've recently finished collage and moved in together. And this is where the problems started. We are both quite stubborn and, as you may expect, it results in tons of arguments. It's been a problem since we were together but it's never been too bad (everyone argues from time to time, right?). But since we moved in together, it's become much worse. To the point we were thinking about breaking up. But instead we sat down and talked about it. It seems like she realizes that she starts a lot of stupid arguments but she was always sort of aware of it and could never change it about herself. We were discussing what we could do and she finally suggested that I should spank/punish her when she's acting up. I didn't really know what to think about it. Initially, I thought it's just a kink of hers and not any real solution. But we'd talked a lot about our kinks over the years and spanking never came up so I don't think that's the point. At this point, I'm ready to try even this if there's even a slightest chance it can help our relationship but... here's the problem. I've no idea how it'd work. I tried to talk to her about it but she said "what's the point if I tell you exactly what to do?" It's not really like I can talk to anyone about this, so I stumbled upon this forum when I was looking for help on the internet.
I don't know how it would work (or if that even can work). I was hoping you could give me some advice how to handle this, what those "punishments" should look like and so on. I'm really desperate at this point
