Okay, so the theory below is that more money can be made with a division I consisting of 128 teams than 326 teams.

Wouldn't you guys get tired watching the same teams day in and day out? Think about it; football is different because you only play once a week for a total of 12 to 13 games. This is why every game is so important, and why there always seems to be a never-ending supply of teams.

Basketball on the other hand plays at least twice a week for a total of 25-30 games a season. If you only had 120 teams or so you could run out of diverse opponents in 5 seasons or so.

If 128 teams is enough for an 11 game football season, doesn't it follow that basketball can absorb at least a 256 team division?

It's circular logic and may be ludicrous, but somebody has yet to explain to me how subtracting teams could make more money for Division I basketball.

JG
