Louisiana
White 20.8
Black 17.0

One of only three states with white women above 20%

Maine
White 15.0

Second highest white male smoking gap (5). Interestingly neighbor New Hampshire has no gap.

Maryland
White 13.5
Black 10.6
Hispanic 5.3
Asian 4.1

Take out the DC area and the white figure would be better.

Massachusetts
Black 13.2
White 10.0
Hispanic 7.5
Asian 3.0

That white number is pathetic. With their menthol ban the black number should fall down to that level as well.

Michigan
Hispanic 22.4
Black 18.0
White 16.7

Michigan gets spectacular numbers for Hispanic women every year so this has to be real. Not only is 22.4 extremely high for latinas, these days it would even be high for whites!

Minnesota
White 12.6
Asian 12.5
Black 12.3
Hispanic 10.1

While whites are (barely) #1 in the state Minnesota has replaced Illinois for having the lowest white female smoking rate in the Midwest. Mark has often said he sees more Asian than Hispanic women smoking. Well it's btrue in Minnesota but nowhere else! I guess Hmong women like to smoke.

Mississippi
White 19.1
Black 12.7

One of the best white numbers in the country BUT disappointing considering they were at 25% until very recently.

Missouri
White 18.7
Black 17.8

A lot of people think Missouri has Southern characteristics for a Midwestern state. The smoking stats would concur as an 18.7 is like the South, not Midwestern states like IL, MN, or WI. Missouri also has the Southern pattern of no male smoking gap among whites.

Montana
Native American 49.3
White 13.6

This has to be one of the biggest Native over White women smoking gaps ever. Geez! This is the state I am travelling bro next month for the State Fair and to hang out. Seeing these white numbers, definitely an all time low, dampens my excitement. But the one thing going for me is I am not going to politically correct college towns Missoula or Bozeman. These places are attracting tons of Califoria transplants and are very PC. I'm quite sure they are driving down the smoking rate. I am going to Billings which looks absolutely amazing on my dating site stats. Considering they rank #1 in smoking for Native females I need to go to an Indian casino for sure or go to an Indian reservation.

Nebraska
Black 21.6
White 13.8
Hispanic 7.4

Consistently high for black women. A crazy 7 point black female over black male smoking gap.

Nevada
White 17.8
Hispanic 5.8

While not nearly as good as their glory days (over 30% back in the 90s) the 17.8 for white women is holding up OK. I find the Hispanic figure surprisingly low. It is tied with California despite the fact that Nevada has so much more of a smoking culture with the casinos as well as bars that don't serve food.
