Subject: Soldering Iron in Hand - J78?

Before I do something I may regret, I'd like to make certain of my next steps. I've got a 5500 board that I'll be using in the upgrade.
I've isolated pin 8 and jumpered it to 12.
Is my next step to heat up and pluck off the little rectagular thing from J78?
Then, isolate pin 25 with my dremel by just cutting above and below pin 25?
And soldering a little wire from pin 20 to 24?

If I do all these steps correctly, does this mean I don't have to mess with rewiring the IDC?
I have both a performa 636 harness and a 5500 harness.

Many thanks in advance for your help!
