Whilst I wouldn't encourage dangerous practices, I wouldn't personally worry about discharging the CRT of a CC - it has a circuit to do that. I've never had a 'belt' from a CC. You could probably find one if you tried really hard, but as long as you are careful with the connector to the side of the CRT with a 'sucker' connector, and don't intentionally bung a finger near where that lead connects to the analogue board immediately after a switching off, you should be OK. Obviously, keep fingers away when powered up.
