Bending over is a big part of many of these school spankings, and was the dominent way I was often punished.

Has several impacts, physically and emotionally. Physically, it made the target area tight which dialled up the pain factor.

Emotionally, it forced an act of lowering myself and submitting to something painful. Presenting myself to get hit and being helpless to lessen the impact in any meaningful way
