Subject: Singapore - selling, owning or using vapes punished by severe caning

BBC News published an article a few days ago about Singapore's campaign to exterminate vaping, which is illegal there.

Apparently even being caught with a vape can result in a prison term, forcible rehab, or a judicial caning. Singapore's judicial caning is famous for its extreme severity (blood all over the place and wounds that take months to heal), not really the same as any kind of parental or school spanking.

People selling vapes can be jailed for 20 years in addition to a judicial caning.

"students caught with vapes could face suspensions, expulsion, and also caning" although school canings aren't as severe as the judicial ones.

Police in Singapore are apparently arresting hundreds of people every month for having vapes.

Vapes have been illegal in Singapore since 2018.

Singapore has a whole variety of strict laws about behaviour, including a ban on chewing gum. However, Wikipedia says it's only a myth that the punishment for possession of chewing gum is a judicial caning too.
