Jerry:
Definately Fehrenheit, we use stocking caps to cover our face so only the eyes and mouth are exposed. Heavy coats layered over sweat shirts, sweathers and even thick, long sleeve t-shirts. I have fleese lined pants and jeans, wool socks and long undies.
I'll admit I spend most of my time indoors but we survive. When it's really cold and snows, the snow is much lighter and easier to shovel. Of course, the cold makes us want to get it done faster and the more we work, the warmer we get under those layers. Fortunately, we only get about a month of really cold weather. Our nice summer weather makes up for this.
I do shovel snow but for the most part, I use the snowblower. This is definately part of my chores but I also make some money doing this for neighbors.
I'm not sure where crickets go in the winter but they are not chirping this time of year. Sorry you need a jacket to mow the lawn but when you are roasting in the summer heat, I'm outside enjoying the fresh air.
Makes me wonder how out Texan friends, Jay & Brody are doing.

Justin
